My wife is intrigued by Roomba vacuum cleaners. She wanted to buy one from Amazon today. It's Prime Day and Amazon sent her an email for one that normally costs eight hundred dollars but now only costs four hundred. Unfortunately she couldn't find it when she clicked on the link. Another bait and switch, I guess.
Put into google translate => Some days it seems nothing will start.
Reverse back=> Kelkajn tagojn ŝajnas, ke nenio komenciĝos.
Ah, oh, I see. That is better.
And if I type my sentiments in English first:
Some days, it feels as though nothing ever even starts =>Kelkajn tagojn, ĝi sentas kvazaŭ nenio eĉ komenciĝas.
That looks nice. I understand the -iĝ- suffix to express the idea of something coming to a start, but I’m not always comfortable with expressing it. I’ve seen eĉ before but I don’t really know what it means; “even” apparently. I’ll need to study how that works. Kelkajn and kvazaŭ are now to me. ĝi sentas makes sense but I prefer the subjectless ŝajnas. Um can ŝajnas be subjectless. Maybe it can’t. I still have much to learn.
Mi lernas Esperanton. (Kial?
I had to fuss with google translate a little bit but not too much. I’m kind of confused with how capricious google translate is. “Okazas al mi” seems to be alternatively translated as “It happens to me” and “It occurs to me” or in the final translate “I find that”. Weird. I can’t control or predict how I will come across.
Okay… now to put that into Google translate.
Today, I went to the dentist to have a cavity filled. It was a beautiful day and the view of the San Francisco Bay was very blue. Am eleven and a half, it was in the seventies (Fahrenheit). The hygienist asked if the weather was hot and I said not very much. She says she preached eighty-one. I have been living in Sacramento for the past few months. Eighty-one doesn't look hot to me.
Hmm…. that’s not too bad. I need to figure out how to say “At so and so o’clock and review how to say eleven thirty. And I need the word for … well, if I’m using tools I can look up how to so “the forecast said”. And I’m not sure how to quote tenses. I say it once but I forget how.
So google translate “At eleven-thirty it was in the seventies”. And “She said that the forecast predicted it would reach eighty-one degrees”. (Although that is beyond my ability to converse naturally.)
So now….

Okay, that’s pretty good but let’s go back and see if there are better ways to do my wild-ass guess on words like “hygienist”. But I don’t like the way it put back in the redundant not very hot or the “sound” instead of “seems”. I’ll plug in:

Okay, so the last posting I did it took me nearly an hour to load one picture of a stupid chicken and to rotate it so it was vertical and to readjust its size. One f-ing hour!
By then I was exhausted and my actual writing about the dumb chicken was utterly brain dead. As this was supposed to be a photo-blog showing the progress of changes with my new house to have it take an hour to load any single photograph makes this impossible.
The site is now dead until I can find a hosting site that has actually installed its blogging software correctly.
We saw our first Fair Oaks chicken. I was pretty certain the population had completely crashed and the community that lauds their chickens was in complete denial. But there was one chicken on Wednesday as I took my cousins to the Sunflower Vegetarian Drive-thru. One chicken may not be that exciting but one is better than zero.
So we picked up the keys on Sunday Feb. 26 and spent the first night here on an inflatable mattress (which promptly and immediately leaked so we had to rush out to buy a replace it). Let’s see what images I have lying around in the mess of a photo directory dump I can bring up and talk of our first nights.
Because dealing with the way Word Press is installed on HostGator fills me with dread. Especially when it comes loading pictures. It takes three minutes to load any picture and if you attempt to upload more than one at a time it will always hang. You have to manually regenerate thumbnails for every picture one at a time and that takes three minutes every picture. Then you can’t put images into directories (you just can’t; the say you can but it’s not installed properly and you can’t) so to pick the pictures you want you have to pick them from the media library from a dump of unload images. Meanwhile to switch from the editing post page to the media page and back takes 30 seconds to reload each page and then 30 seconds to go back to editing.
So this is enough to make the mere thought of typing a post a dreadful to be avoided ordeal.
Supposedly escrow closed sometime today. We will pick up the keys on Sunday. We had a final walk-through inspection on Tues. and the sellers had done everything they said they would.
Come back Sunday. More to come such as our first look at the empty rooms and our first night.
I haven’t been writing as much about the house in Carmichael as I had about the house in Fair Oaks even though the house in Carmichael is certainly going to go through while the house in Fair Oaks fell through at the last moment.
We have done inspections and there are no big issues. There have been a few small issues but they are probably more nerve-wracking for the sellers than for us. Basically the sellers put in a lot of work and money into repairs and our inspector found little things, such as loose toilets, small amounts of dry rot, etc. which they had signed off on. But they seem eager to sell and to do any repairs to make it happen.
