The Story So Far

Sale Pending

K and I really need to move. Our house, though with charms, is simply too small and has terrible flow with a bottle-neck when the hallway, living room kitchen and converge into a 32-inch passage way. A sideways move to a nicer house in El Cerrito isn’t really practical or affordable and, let’s face it, in terms of traffic crowds, cost of living etc. … If you have to ask you’ll never believe the answer. Let’s just say K had more access to culture in Fresno and I had more in Eugene because you could actually get to it.

Should be plenty to explore. Note the pedestrian bridge across the American River and the Parks and nature areas near the river.

We are both natives and we love it but really, this is not a livable environment.

Now flying away to Portland where the bang for our buck is much greater is appealing but to me, the Puget Sound area west of Seattle is certainly prettier says Nathaniel. But Nathaniel also says, but… this is it? This is the final retiring? I’ve always had fantasies about places I enjoy fantasizing living; The Orkney Islands, or Tonga, of New Caledonia or Ireland? I can’t really continue to fantasize about that if given the time we are given a time to move to our final home, I choose something reasonable, can I?

K keeps me grounded. We want to be in the Kaiser system and with municipal water service, remember. That matters. Dope-slap to Nathaniel.
And family and friends.
And learning the new haunts of a new place; do I have to fortitude to do it again.

Which leads us to Fair Oaks in Sacramento county.

The store looks like this but either the chickens were overhyped or the population has drastically dropped this March.

We really didn’t know much about Sacramento, but, why not? It’s the state capital so there is plenty of culture and museums. And it’s closer to bird watching and the mountains (far away from the Bay and my love/hate of sailing [but that’s another story]) and surely there is a there there. We just haven’t been introduced to it yet. And were 80% of your buck gives you 120% of your bang the exchange rate seemed good.

So… we have an offer on a house contingent upon passing inspections and we are in the middle of it. And that’s the story so far.

Anyhow… my hope is to write about the development as we make them. But until the sale is finalized I don’t want to go into details here.
